From September 1–3, 2025, PT Bakrie Pipe Industries held the Technical Performance Evaluation (TPE) 2025 for Quality & HSE personnel, specifically the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team. This activity aims to ensure that all inspection systems, procedures, and equipment operate accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.
Non-Destructive Testing on steel pipes encompasses various inspection methods that guarantee pipes are free from defects, cracks, porosity, or other imperfections without damaging the material. The main techniques tested include Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (PT). By validating equipment performance and operator expertise, PT BPI ensures consistent inspection results, thus maintaining weld quality, wall thickness, and structural integrity.
During TPE, NDT personnel underwent a series of technical performance tests that included equipment calibration, field scenario test simulations, and checks on the implementation of Q&HSE procedures. Each test was evaluated based on accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with international guidelines and applicable procedures. Evaluation results serve as the basis for continuous improvement, additional training, and SOP updates to enhance operational efficiency.
With the success of TPE 2025, PT Bakrie Pipe Industries reaffirms its commitment to steel pipe inspection quality and workplace safety. Strengthening the competence of NDT personnel not only increases customer confidence but also supports the reliability of pipes for critical applications such as oil & gas, infrastructure construction, and underground projects. Going forward, routine evaluations like TPE will continue to be conducted as part of BPI’s efforts to innovate and improve service quality.
