As the pioneer of welded steel pipe manufacturing in Indonesia, Bakrie Pipe’s journey began in 1959 when the late H. Achmad Bakrie established the first steel pipe plant under the name Talang Tirta, with a production capacity of 5/8–6 inches. In 1981, Talang Tirta was officially renamed PT Bakrie Pipe Industries (BPI), with expanded production capacity up to 1/2–24 inches. Today, BPI operates with an annual capacity of 310,000 MT, utilizing High-Frequency Electric Resistance Welding (HF-ERW) technology to serve various sectors, including construction and infrastructure, water distribution, oil and gas, as well as other industrial applications. As part of its business development, in 1996 BPI established a subsidiary, PT Southeast Asia Pipe Industries (SEAPI), located in Lampung, specializing in Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding (LSAW) with an annual capacity of 120,000 MT. Aligned with the company’s expansion strategy, in 2019 SEAPI extended its product portfolio with Helical Submerged Arc Welding (HSAW) technology, reaching a capacity of 100,000 MT per year. With over six decades of experience, BPI and SEAPI remain committed to delivering high-quality steel pipes that support national development and to strengthening their position as trusted partners in Indonesia’s strategic infrastructure.
